Reddit Giveaway Post Template (Copy and Paste)

We built RDT Picker, a Reddit comment picker, and wrote these guides by watching how organizers run real giveaways with it.

Here is a Reddit giveaway post template you can copy, fill in, and post today. Below are three ready-made versions (simple comment-to-enter, answer-a-question, and multi-prize), a rules block, title ideas, and the text to announce your winner. Replace everything in [square brackets] with your own details.

What Every Giveaway Post Needs

Whatever the format, a giveaway post should answer six questions before anyone has to ask them:

• What is the prize?
• How do I enter? Keep it to one free action, usually one comment.
• When does it end? Give a date, a time, and a time zone.
• How many winners are there?
• How is the winner chosen? Say it is random, and say how.
• How will I be contacted, and how long do I have to reply?

Entry must never depend on votes. Reddit's Disrupting Communities policy prohibits vote manipulation, so do not ask for upvotes, awards, or shares. Before you post, read the subreddit's own rules and message the moderators if they are unclear. The full process is in how to run a Reddit giveaway.

Title Ideas

Short and literal works best. Some subreddits require a tag or flair such as [GIVEAWAY], and others ban giveaway posts outright, so check the rules first.

• [GIVEAWAY] [Prize], comment to enter, ends [date]
• Giving away [prize] to one member of r/[subreddit]
• [Prize] giveaway: tell us [question] to enter
• [Number] winners: [prize] giveaway, ends [date, time zone]

A Reddit Giveaway Post Template That Covers the Basics

This is the simplest version. One comment is one entry.

[GIVEAWAY] [Prize] — comment to enter, ends [date] I'm giving away [prize] to one member of r/[subreddit]. [One line on who you are and why, e.g. "I'm the founder of X" or "Thanks for 10,000 members!"] HOW TO ENTER Leave one comment on this post. That's it. It's free. RULES - One entry per person. - Open to [countries / ages]. - Ends [date] at [time] [time zone]. - One winner, picked at random from valid comments after the deadline. - I'll message the winner through Reddit chat. Reply within [48 hours] or I'll draw a new winner. - I'll post the result link here when the draw is done. Good luck!

Template 2: Answer-a-Question Giveaway

Asking a question gets better comments than a bare "I'm in." It also lets you filter entries by a required word.

[GIVEAWAY] [Prize] — tell us [question] to enter I'm giving away [prize]. To enter, comment your answer to this question: [question] Include the word "entering" in your comment so I can find valid entries. RULES - One entry per person. Extra comments don't improve your chances. - Open to [countries / ages]. - Ends [date] at [time] [time zone]. - One winner, picked at random from valid comments after the deadline. - I'll message the winner through Reddit chat. Reply within [48 hours] or I'll draw a new winner. - The draw and result link will be posted in this thread.

Template 3: Multi-Prize Giveaway

For several prizes, list them clearly and say that nobody can win twice.

[GIVEAWAY] [Number] prizes — comment to enter, ends [date] I'm giving away [number] prizes to r/[subreddit]. PRIZES 1st: [prize] 2nd: [prize] 3rd: [prize] HOW TO ENTER Leave one comment on this post. It's free. RULES - One entry per person, and each person can win only once. - Open to [countries / ages]. - Ends [date] at [time] [time zone]. - Winners are picked at random from valid comments after the deadline. - I'll message each winner through Reddit chat. Reply within [48 hours] or I'll draw a replacement. - I'll post the result link here when the draw is done.

Rules Block to Paste Into Any Post

If you only want the rules, use this and adjust the details. The Reddit giveaway rules guide explains each line.

RULES - Free to enter. No purchase necessary. - One entry per person. - Open to [countries / ages]. - Ends [date] at [time] [time zone]. - [Number] winner(s), picked at random from valid comments after the deadline. - Winners are contacted through Reddit chat and have [48 hours] to reply. - Organizer: [your username / business name].

Announce the Winner: Edit Text to Paste

When the deadline passes, draw at random with the Reddit comment picker. The organizer needs an account to run a draw, and entrants need nothing but a comment. Then edit the top of your original post:

EDIT: This giveaway has ended. Winner: u/[username] Drawn at random from valid comments after the deadline using RDT Picker. Full result: [result link] Thanks to everyone who entered!

Reply to the winner's comment so they get a notification, then message them privately. Never ask for an address in a public comment. Posting the result link is the simplest way to answer "was this fair?" before anyone asks, and how to prove your Reddit giveaway was fair covers the rest.

Key Takeaways

• Answer six questions in every post: prize, entry, deadline with time zone, winners, how they're chosen, and how you'll contact them.
• Use comments to enter, never votes.
• Start from the template that fits: simple, answer-a-question, or multi-prize.
• Announce by editing your post and adding the result link.
